Dr. John Chu (Dentist)

Dr. John Chu completed his Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Toxicology at the University of Toronto in 1992.  This was followed by his Doctor of Dental Surgery from Northwestern University in Chicago (1996). Upon graduation, Dr. Chu practiced at Presidential Dental, a major cosmetic dental centre in Chicago's financial district before returning home to Canada and establishing his family practice in Barrhaven.  

Professionally, Dr. Chu was a two-term Councillor representing Ottawa-area dentists in the Ontario Dental Association, served as Canadian representative to the Supreme Council of Delta Sigma Delta International Dental Fraternity and has served in all levels of the executive of the Ottawa Dental Society culminating in its presidency in 2009. 

Dr. Chu is a devoted husband to Misa and father to his kids Benjamin, Hanna and Ella.  He is a proud Hockey Dad and an active participant in his community where he was a leader in his son's Beavers colony, a regular in the Barrhaven BIA roundtable discussions, the Motorsports Club of Ottawa, The Tifosi Club and a founding member and instructor at Ottawa's Tateyama Kendo Dojo (Japanese fencing).

Dr. Chu is a diehard Ottawa Senators fan, enjoys reading, listening to live jazz, Canadian art, East-Asian philosophy, strength training, wine tasting and recumbent cycling.  His most passionate hobby however, is for motorsports.  Forgoing golf clubs for a racing helmet in the warm season, he loves taking his track car to various road courses in southern Ontario and eastern Quebec.  He also serves in the executive of the Acura NSX Club of Canada and runs a national online car club devoted to the Nissan Skyline GT-R.
