Meet Doctor John Chu

Dr. John Chu

Dr. Chu graduated from Northwestern University Dental School in Chicago in 1996. Northwestern is one of the premier dental schools in North America.  He then honed his diagnostic and clinical skills at Presidential Dental --a busy downtown cosmetic and family practice in the heart of Chicago's financial district before the returning home to Canada to set up his practice in Barrhaven.   He is an active member of the community for over 25 years. Dr. Chu has been representing Ottawa-area dentists in the General Council of the Ontario Dental Association for over 20 years, past president of the Ottawa Dental Society and currently serves as head of the Ottawa Dental Society Mediations Committee.  When not cheering on his Senators and Raptors he can be spotted at the gym, cycling, gardening, reading, racing at Calabogie Motorsports Park or in the Kendo dojo.  Dr. Chu is proud to be one of the founding members of the Tateyama Kendo Club in Ottawa and its first instructor in 1999.  Professionally, Dr. Chu volunteers the Bytown Dental Study Club, a member of the Canadian Dental Association, Ontario Dental Association, Board member of the Ottawa Dental Society, member in good standing with the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario and Canadian representative of Delta Sigma Delta International Dental Fraternity.

All dentists are not alike. They have different skills, different technology, different training and different philosophies. As well, we understand that all patients are not alike. They have different wants, needs and desires. Our doctors all share the same value of developing long term relationships based on trust, shared mutual goals, setting realistic treatment timelines and budget realities.

Our doctors firmly believe that the best way to treat patients is to first arm them with all the information and options available at our disposal, filter through the hyperbole and google-based claims, and know all the pros and cons.  Only then can sound knowledge-based decisions be made.
